I was soooo excited that I was going to start the ribbing on my first sock today. I was sooo close to actually completing one whole sock, and was super proud. It was about 1.5″ taller than this when I went to take a shower:

Sock progress!
So, remember those precious sleeping dogs? Well, only one remains precious. The other two are terrorists. I’m pretty sure regular readers will know that Paisley is still the good dog. When I got out of the shower, this is what greeted me:

Notice the tangled yarn, and how stretched out the sock is. Almost as though two dogs played tug of war with it...

Two dogs with sharp teeth...

Lack of knitting needles in the stitches. :(
Sure. The hole could be fixed. The yarn could be untangled. The stitches could be picked up at the top. But honestly, it’s stretched to all hell. It’s $3 worth of acrylic yarn. And I think if I continue to look at it, I’ll have a coronary.
I’m not really sure wether to laugh, cry, or throw a temper tantrum of anger.
None of those options will help anything, so instead, I’ll show it to Bob when he gets here, we’ll laugh a little at how sad I am, and the I’ll drop the sock into the trash.
I guess some things aren’t meant to be.
They’re having an awesome time playing. Sure is nice to see them all passed out like this. :)

Sleeping Pups
I think that birds are one of those things that the world, for one reason or another, has decided to try and do some serious PR for. In cartoons, they’re cute (usually), and tend to have relatively decent morals. Like Scuttle from Little Mermaid – he was helpful, even though he was kind of a liar and fake know it all. A better example may be Owl from Whinnie the Pooh. Always giving advice, and watching over everyone. There was also that owl in Bambi. Although, now that I’m really thinking about it, all the birds in the cast usually have a pretty noticeable flow. (I should also mention here that I still have no understanding as to why Tweety Bird ever got popular. Worst character ever.) Owls, which fall under the bird family, are the same way. Real owls? Flippin’ creepy. Their heads spin and they really can’t be trusted. (Full disclosure: I once heard a story about an owl that saw someone’s chihuahua in the yard, and took it for a mouse. I laughed at the story, because that’s pretty funny. Also, I’m sure the dog was fine, right?)
But that’s not really the point here. Birds, in theory, are awesome. They have wings and can fly. They’re relatively quiet, which helps add to the creepy factor. Also, most people aren’t really around birds like they are around cats, dogs, ginnea pigs, hamsters, sugar gliders, and the like. I don’t feel like I’ve ever fully learned to read birds, They’re completely unpredictable and it doesn’t help that they can go on pretty much any surface. If you really start to think about it, you’re never really safe from birds, unless you’re inside. Even then, are you really safe? Probably not. They get into your roof and fire places.
I’m really not going anywhere with this. Other than that I saw this necklace that I really liked, and it has a wing, which relates directly to birds. It leaves me wondering if i makes me a traitor or liar if I decide to buy it. Because birds freak me out.
In other news, I love punctuation and grammar.
No blizzard today. More like a slush storm. :(
Work was uneventful. Got to Bob’s and made my famous banana split cupcakes for him to take to work as a thanks to his co-workers for switching shifts with him so much since we’ve started dating. Here they are before the chocolate drizzle and cherries:

Naked cupcakes.

Happy Icing
You’d think I’d remember to take a finished picture before he took them to work. But nope. I still have a few here that I can photograph, but I was a little sad I didn’t do the full shot. I hope they’re well received. :)
I also recorded episode #33 of the show. Check it out here if you’d like. It’s a little ramble-y though, that’s what we get with midnight recordings. :D
This morning started a little earlier than I like….

6:26
I’m pretty sure my groan at the alarm would have startled the dogs, had they not groaned with me. :) But, the dogs and I got ready and headed over to Bob’s before work so they could play all day. I got a little tin with grapes and strawberries packed for me. It was quite delicious, and I wished I’d remembered to take a picture sooner:

2nd Breakfast!

Progress
I made a little leg knitting progress as well. We spent the evening with pizza, sugary treats, and Wii games. It was my first time playing mario karts for the wii, and it’s super awesome! New favorite game by far.
We’re supposed to get a snowstorm tomorrow. I can only hope it happens, but it never seems to when I’d like it to.

Before the heel

Heel!

Check that out - it's like a real sock!
And that’s the bulk of my day.

Rainbow bright
I’ll be ready to turn the heel tomorrow at knit night!
This is what is left of my birthday cupcakes from Bob. Though, it went down to 2 right after this shot was taken. :D

3 of 6
Other than eating cupcakes, I worked on some freelance today and just sort of bummed around. Pretty uneventful day.
Today was another kick ass day.
Got up, got ready, and Bob and I went to the auto show. It wasn’t quite like it’s been in years past, but we had a good time. Then we had lunch and watched a movie about a flying castle. I can’t remember the name, but it was really neat.
We headed to my parents’ house about 4, and had a delicious steak dinner and played some cut throat Uno. For my birthday, everyone pooled together and got me the artisan kitchenaide mixer!!!! It’s the awesome gunmetal color. A thing of sheer beauty. I can’t wait to clean off my countertops and set it up tomorrow. It’s going to be awesome. To top the awesomeness, look at the cake my sister made me:

My perfect birthday cake!

Best cake ever.
It was just as delicious as it was beautiful. Vanilla bean cake with chocolate icing that had strawberries blended into the icing. Then, topped with really yummy chocolate fondant. I wished I had eaten less diner food and more cake.
Finally, here’s my sock progress:

Sock!
It looks like I may actually finish this one. :)
I had the best birthday ever today.
I woke up, and went to the DMV to get my license renewed. It is not the best picture I’ve had, but whatever. The color is way off, but you can tell by the smile that it’s totally me.
Then I went shopping with mom and got some sweaters and shirts. And, I scored the world’s most adorable skirt off a clearance rack. It was clearly meant to be. After shopping, we had lunch at Pi, where a waitress asked me if I was turning 16 or 17. Nice.
Here’s a picture of me and my purple cow (grape soda ice cream float) at my birth time, haha:

Purple Cow Birthday!
After lunch, I came home to find that Bob had brought me six cupcakes from the Cupcakery!!! All different kinds. I wish I’d taken pictures of them before we dove in and had a few. My favorite was the raspberry beret. Soooo yum.
Around 4:30, we headed to the IL side for a birthday shindig at Shilo’s house. It was a blast. Excellent food, excellent company, and a theme of sheer awesomeness.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy in my entire life.
