I was soooo excited that I was going to start the ribbing on my first sock today. I was sooo close to actually completing one whole sock, and was super proud. It was about 1.5″ taller than this when I went to take a shower:

Sock progress!

So, remember those precious sleeping dogs? Well, only one remains precious. The other two are terrorists. I’m pretty sure regular readers will know that Paisley is still the good dog. When I got out of the shower, this is what greeted me:

Notice the tangled yarn, and how stretched out the sock is. Almost as though two dogs played tug of war with it...

Two dogs with sharp teeth...

Lack of knitting needles in the stitches. :(

Sure. The hole could be fixed. The yarn could be untangled. The stitches could be picked up at the top. But honestly, it’s stretched to all hell. It’s $3 worth of acrylic yarn. And I think if I continue to look at it, I’ll have a coronary.

I’m not really sure wether to laugh, cry, or throw a temper tantrum of anger.

None of those options will help anything, so instead, I’ll show it to Bob when he gets here, we’ll laugh a little at how sad I am, and the I’ll drop the sock into the trash.

I guess some things aren’t meant to be.
